Counselor, Addison McCaffray at Joyworks Counseling

Hi, I’m Addie!

Counselor, lifelong learner, and adventurer

My name is Addison McCaffray and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Washington state (License #LH61603463) and the owner of Joyworks Counseling, PLLC. I have a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Washington State University (Go Cougs!). I also have a Master’s degree in Teaching and am a certificated teacher in Washington state. Prior to opening Joyworks Counseling, I held roles as a 2nd grade teacher, behavioral therapist at the University of Washington Autism Center, Child Life volunteer at Seattle Children’s Hospital, conduct officer at WSU, and practicum counselor at the U of I Center on Disabilities and Human Development Child and Youth Study Center.

In my spare time, you will find me trying out new restaurants, taking beach walks, traveling, reading, and snow skiing. I enjoy playing board and card games, and often incorporate these into play therapy. I absolutely love exploring our beautiful state and most importantly meeting new people. I can’t wait to connect with you!

Play Therapy with Addison McCaffray at Joyworks Counseling

My Approach

I apply an integrative therapeutic approach, which is individualized for each client. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is at the core. The other theories I draw from, but are not limited to are strength-based, developmental, attachment-based, and family systems.

I support children through their use of their primary language, play. Through play, your child will practice navigating strong emotions and social interactions.

Our work together will be collaborative. You can expect a warm, supportive, and thoughtful environment to flourish in.
